Bodyworx Osteopathy treatments
It is not uncommon for expectant mothers to experience back pain, pelvic pain and other related complaints due to the structural changes that take place during pregnancy. The mother’s posture changes as the baby grows in size and ligaments soften in readiness for labour and delivery.
While some women breeze through their pregnancy feeling fantastically fit and healthy, others experience low energy levels, tire easily and find it hard to concentrate. There are also a number of physical symptoms that are commonly associated with the various stages of pregnancy.
Osteopathy can address many if not all of these symptoms, helping women enjoy their pregnancy and feel as well as they can. From an osteopath’s point of view, pregnancy is a normal process – it shouldn’t be a drag. Nevertheless, some women adjust less easily to the demands that pregnancy makes on their bodies, and osteopathy can help.
Discomfort, or generally feeling out of sorts, is often the body’s way of telling the mother that something isn’t quite right and that she requires help. Having gentle osteopathic treatment to balance your pelvis and other muscles and joints before you go into labour can therefore be helpful for both you and your baby during the birth.
