Our team of specialists
Our team of specialists
Our diversity is our strength as our practitioners come together with backgrounds in high level sport as athletes and sports trainers, osteopathic education, analytical problem solving and life experience. We are committed to post graduate training in paediatrics and sports injuries.
Our team environment allows us to use our varied backgrounds and interests to find solutions to complex and complicated issues. We also have a very wide referral network of health professionals with whom we work closely.
Jeremy is one of the most experienced osteopaths in New Zealand
Jeremy has been in private practice since 1997 after studying in Melbourne for 5 years at RMIT.
Working with footballers in Melbourne taught Jeremy how to quickly get to the root of a problem and this is the challenge that Jeremy has enjoyed professionally ever since.
By working with General practitioners and Medical Specialists Jeremy has been able to work with a wide range of patients and he believes osteopathy can provide significant positive results for patients. Osteopathy looks at the body as a unit with a capacity for healing itself. By applying effective osteopathic treatment Jeremy has seen many instances where complex or ongoing problems have been able to be resolved through treatment.
He has lectured into the Undergraduate and Masters programmes at Unitec, had a research project published in the Journal of the American Osteopath Association and lectured to post-graduates. Jeremy enjoys mentoring new graduates into the practice and works closely with them to help them develop through his experience.
Bodyworx Healthcare is the result of Jeremy and Karen bringing together a group of talented osteopaths who work collaboratively to provide excellent results. Our people bring a wide range of skills and life experience together to help our clients off all ages. As a group we bring over 100 years of clinical experience to the table and are highly motivated to help you find results.
Karen is an ambassador for health for all ages. Her passion for osteopathy encompasses newborn babies, infants, children of all ages, pregnancy and preparation for labor and she enjoys working with women of all ages.
Having completed her Masters in Osteopathy in 2012 after researching osteopathy in the treatment of infants, Karen has continued post-graduate training in cranial osteopathy, paediatric treatment and is currently completing postgraduate training in biodynamic phases of osteopathy. She has developed a gentle approach, peeling back the layers of compensation in her patients to find the root cause of their condition.
Karen’s experience as a mother and grandmother helps her to understand the female body through the different stages and understanding how important maintaining your fitness and lifestyle is to managing symptoms and how osteopathic treatment can help support you through these times.
Karen volunteers at the OCF in Hamilton. The Osteopathic Children’s Foundation is a charitable trust, foundered by a group of passionate osteopaths wanting to offer children of all ages free osteopathic treatment. Karen is humbled and proud to be a part of this unique team of people.
In her spare time you will find Karen with Jeremy at home on their lifestyle block, sharing dinners with their family, enjoying the peace and serenity of the bush, wildlife, and their very much loved spoodle Chester.
After a few years living and working in New York, Melbourne and Sydney, Matthew has returned to the team at Bodyworx. While overseas Matthew worked in osteopathic group practices, was entrusted by fellow osteopaths to run their practices while on holiday and ran his own osteopathic practice. “I certainly enjoyed the team approach and atmosphere at Bodyworx so I’m glad to be part of it again.”
Since he started running back in 2012, Matthew has gone on to race in distances from the mile to the 90km Comrades Marathon in South Africa. In 2015, Matthew finished with a coveted silver medal at Comrades, having completed the race in under seven and a half hours. “Along the way I’ve learnt a great deal about the benefits of regular exercise, recovery and injury treatment and management, which I’ve applied to myself and clinically”. He can assist with sports related injuries, postural effects of ‘desk patrol’ and helps those wanting to start a physical activity in a safe and sustainable way.
Matthew is a founding member of the Ancestral Health Society of New Zealand. It is a not-for-profit society aiming to foster interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists, healthcare professionals, organisations and laypersons who study human health and the human ecological niche, to help with the challenges of our modern lives. The vast amount of knowledge Matt brings to Bodyworx can help you achieve your physical goals through many channels and first-hand experience.
Callum graduated in 2012 with a Master of Osteopathy and a Bachelor of Science (Human Biology) degree from Unitec Institute of Technology. He has recently returned to Bodyworx after spending two years overseas working in a busy private clinic in Singapore and travelling widely in Europe, the UK and Asia.
Callum has a keen interest in health, both personally and professionally. He enjoys spending time in the outdoors, surfing and keeping fit and healthy while motivating patients to do the same.
He is confident in using a wide range of structural and functional techniques and enjoys treating patients of all ages and fitness levels; from children to office workers, to professional athletes. He has a special interest in how our bodies adapt to both the expected and unexpected demands of everyday life; whether that involves stairs, desks and office life or heavy lifting and elite sports training.
Callum’s Master’s Thesis investigated how we can objectively measure lower back and pelvic joint stiffness. This sparked his interest in how Osteopathy can help maintain the correct function of all joints, muscles and body tissues throughout our lifetimes. But further, how dysfunction in these systems can affect our bodies natural ability to cope with and adapt to the many stressors of daily life.
Coming from 15years of national and international level competition in a variety of water-sports, Callum is driven, passionate and understands injury and dysfunction. Callum has also completed post-graduate courses in paediatrics and professional development courses in sports injuries and concussion management.
When Emily puts her mind to something she strives to be the very best she can be.
As a competitive swimmer and horse rider, Emily chose to specialise in equine therapy for many years to give her a greater understanding of the sport. After suffering from a swimming injury, Emily found Osteopathy to be a tremendous help in her recovery. Emily was hooked and wanted others to experience the benefits of Osteopathy as well.
Following a Masters in Osteopathy and a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (specialising in Sports Medicine) her mission is to see clients involved in sports or physical activities they loved and enjoyed, helping them avoid injury and reach their best performance.
Her research thesis studied the effectiveness of osteopathic management of horse riding related injuries, aiming her with the knowledge and tools to help and support people wanting to be pain-free and strong again.
We are very happy to have Cheri back from maternity leave. She will be available on Mondays during March and Mondays and Wednesdays from April onwards.
Cheri enjoys working with clients from all walks of life and has developed a strong interest in womens health. She has completed further obstetrics and paediatrics osteopathic training.
In 2014 she completed a postgraduate certificate in western medical acupuncture and finds it particularly helpful when combined with osteopathic treatment for conditions such as; dysmenorrhea, pregnancy-related pain (especially due to hyper-mobility), gastrointestinal disturbances and common complaints such as; spinal pain, arthritis, sporting injuries and tendinopathies.
Previously Cheri has worked at osteopathic clinics with a strong focus in sports and exercise prescription. This has given her experience working with clients to provide patient specific advice and modifications where necessary for sport and exercises, to prevent injury reoccurrence.
Cheri is able use a variety of osteopathic techniques, which can range from stronger “structural” techniques to more gentle techniques depending on what is necessary and safe for the client. Acupuncture can be added into a treatment session if it is thought to be of benefit and with the clients consent.
